What is Mattersmith Studio and how is it different from traditional design software?​

Mattersmith Studio is made for working with customized products.  Studio lets designers configure, quote, and order products - all inside of SketchUp. AutoCAD and Revit coming soon.

Can I generate accurate production data from SketchUp designs?

Yes. Our system automatically turns sales designs into engineering BOMs and production data for nested and single-part machining, saw optimization, and automated edgebanding.

Can I import cabinets from other programs into Mattersmith?

 

No, but if you've already defined your product line it will speed up development of your Mattersmith catalog. It's also an opportunity to clean up old data.

What’s involved in getting my product catalog into Mattersmith?

We work with you to define your product features and options, then engineer the cabinets, validate the output, and add pricing.  We can tailor our standard catalog to your specs, or build one from scratch.

How long does it take to develop a product catalog?

 

Catalog development time depends upon the number of products, and the complexity of the configuration options.  Typical catalog development time is four to eight weeks.

How long does it take to distribute a product catalog?

 

Catalogs are instantly available to your customers as soon as you release them. You can also stage catalogs for testing prior to release.

 

How do I manage updates to my product catalogs?

 

Catalogs have version control so you can decide which catalogs are available and when they expire. Your cusotmers always have access to the current product specs and pricing—no outdated information.

Does Mattersmith integrate with my ERP or MES systems?

Yes, our API lets you integrate with most ERP and MES systems, eliminating double entry and letting you use pricing in external systems, and manage production in your chosen execution system.

Can Mattersmith fit into our existing tech stack?

Yes. Mattersmith is made to be a modular component in your technology ecosystem, so you can leverage existing investments and choose the best tools for each function.
 

For Dealers and Designers
 

How do I know what product configurations are available?

 

Mattersmith only lets you create valid product configurations. If you can configure it, you can order it with assurance. No more back and forth with manufacturers to figure out what's possible, and how much it costs.

Can I quote or sell through Mattersmith if I’m not using your design software?

Yes. You can enter orders online in Mattersmith Web Orders—perfect for sales workflows where design happens in another software application, or even just with pencil and paper.

Do I need SketchUp Pro to use Mattersmith Studio?

Yes. Mattersmith Studio is a plugin that runs inside of SketchUp Pro. If you're new to SketchUp, there are extensive resources online to get you up to speed quickly.

Can I use Mattersmith Studio without working with a manufacturer?

Yes. You can design using our generic catalogs, but the greatest productivity is unlocked when you design using manufacturer catalogs.

SketchUp is powerful software that's affordable and easy to learn.  All mainstream CAD applications can import SKP files, facilitating collaboration with architects, designers, and contractors.
